Guiding Questions: II Samuel 20

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. What was the legal state that David created for his concubines when he returned to Jerusalem? In modern Jewish law, how do we refer to such a woman?
  2. Suggest a hypothesis to explain why David went after Sheva when he thought he was threatening his kingdom, yet refrained from going after Absalom? In one case David remains passive, seemingly accepting the will of God, and in the other case David takes action. Curious?
  3. Why did Yoav kill Amasa?
  4. To better understand the intentions of the words of the “wise woman” see Deuteronomy 20:10
