Guiding Questions: I Samuel 6

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. What does the expression “to make your heart heavy” mean (I Samuel 6:6)?
  2. Do we find the use of cows “upon which no yoke has ever come” in the Bible? Why might these cows be preferred to cows who have worked in the field?
  3. How does the “test” that the Philistines conduct work?
  4. A huge number of men died in Beit Shemesh because they “had gazed upon the Ark of the Lord.” Does it make sense that this, indeed, was their sin?
