Guiding Questions: II Kings 23

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. What did Josiah read to the people of Israel (specifically, what passages)? When was the last time the people had heard such words?
  2. What were the “mazalot” that Josiah abolished in II Kings 23:5?
  3. Where is the Kidron Valley now?
  4. Why was it that, after abolishing all the idol worship in Jerusalem, Josiah called for a Passover sacrifice? What is the particular focus of this religious act?
  5. Why was it that after all the good that Josiah had done, so much of which was clearly unprecedented, God was still not placated?
