Guiding Questions: Isaiah 60

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. Who is encouraged to “rise”?
  2. Isaiah 60:4 speaks of “all have gathered and returned”. To whom does this refer and where have they returned?
  3. Will the return be accompanied by largesse or by privation (Isaiah 60:5-7)?
  4. Will the “restoration” find opposition on the part of the “goyim” (the nations) or will there will be cooperation?
  5. In Isaiah 60:14, what city is “the city of God”, unique to Israel?
  6. And, who will bring all this about (Isaiah 60:16)?
  7. What is meant by the poetic reference in Isaiah 60:19 that “God will be your eternal light”?
  8. And (Isaiah 60:21) at that time what will be the moral posture of the people?
