The song Dayenu reminds us to appreciate each step of redemption, recognizing that even partial deliverance is a blessing.
When we sing about how each miracle alone “would have been enough,” we acknowledge that progress happens in stages. This perspective is especially important in times of hardship when it can be difficult to see the light ahead.
Today, as Israel faces immense challenges—war, division, and uncertainty—it can feel like true peace is far away.
Yet, Dayenu teaches us to find gratitude in each moment of resilience: the unity of the people, the bravery of soldiers, and the support from around the world. While we pray for full peace and security, we must also recognize and strengthen the blessings we already have, knowing that every step forward is meaningful.
As members of USY, we have the power to show our support through learning, advocacy, and acts of kindness. Whether through prayer, raising awareness, or standing in solidarity, our voices and actions matter. Just as Dayenu reminds us to appreciate each step toward redemption, we must continue taking small but meaningful steps to strengthen our connection to Israel and help shape a better future.
