Guiding Questions: Psalms 13

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. What is the condition of the author (speaker of this chapter as set forth in Psalms 13:2)?
  2. Is the “concealing of God’s face” to be understood as disfavor? Neglect? Both? Something other?
  3. What is the lament of the “victim” as set forth in Psalms 13:3?
  4. Based upon Psalms 13:4-5 would the threat, as articulated, seem to be a substantial or marginal one?
  5. Yet, in sum, does the Psalm end with a continued plaint or with an “expression of confidence” that assistance will be forthcoming?
