Guiding Questions: Ezekiel 45

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. What “distribution” is introduced in Ezekiel 45:1?
  2. According to Ezekiel 45:4, the measurements and the distribution are intended to provide for what group?
  3. Do these measurements parallel the measurements set forth in the Five Books and, generally, the provisions made for the Kohanim and the Leviim?
  4. And, in the Five Books is there any provision for the “nasi” (Ezekiel 45:7)?
  5. Why, according to Ezekiel 45:8, is a portion of the land (in redistribution following the restoration) to go to the “nasi”?
  6. What further mandate is give to the nasi in Ezekiel 45:9-15?
  7. Does the nasi (Ezekiel 45:17) have any sacerdotal role and have we encountered either the title nasi or a role for same in the Five Books?
  8. Ezekiel 45:18 makes reference to the first day of the first month — to what month might this refer?
  9. What portions of the Temple area are to be marked (Ezekiel 45:19)?
  10. Is this procedure to be repeated and, if so, when (Ezekiel 45:20)?
  11. Would Ezekiel 45:21 definitely indicate that the first month is the same first month to which reference is made in the Five Books?
  12. Does the description of The Passover indicate that no hametz is to be consumed?
  13. Is the description of The Passover geared to “the people” or primarily to the Temple activity?
