Guiding Questions: Isaiah 43

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. Who or what will protect Israel from any and all difficulties?
  2. Is there any reference to “saving the king” or “the priest” or any constituency or leadership group which would be identified with Israel in its own state?
  3. Would Isaiah 43:5 indicate a promise to gather exiles from distant lands?
  4. Who then, according to Isaiah 43:10, are “God’s witnesses” and who is God’s Servant?
  5. Would Isaiah 43:10 indicate the prophet’s affirmation of the timelessness of God?
  6. According to Isaiah 43:11, is there any savior except for God?
  7. In Isaiah 43:14, what affirmation is there that the prophet is addressing the exiles in Babylonia?
  8. Would Isaiah 43:19 indicate that the future holds possibilities of return? Would the reference to “a path in the wilderness” affirm this?
  9. And, if the exile was a function of punishment for transgression, what does Isaiah 43:25 promise?
  10. To whom does Isaiah 43:27 refer as “your first father — who transgressed”?
