Chasing Away the Darkness: Hanukkah Kavanah

Find more Hanukkah Candle Lighting Intentions from the RA’s “8 Nights of Kavvanot.”

How joyful do the candles dance and sparkle as night falls, filling our hearts with joy, as we celebrate together and gift joy to one another! As the lights dance they appear to lean into one another and remind us that we are happier when we share our joy with someone else.

How strident are the candles, as they shine through the darkness, reminding us that each and every little light can light up a room, and together they shine even brighter.

How meaningful are these lights, jumping around and joyfully telling the stories of the miracles of our people from generation to generation, transmitted by our teachers and our teachers’ teachers.

How exquisite to bask in the glow of the candles shining bright, chasing away the darkness, one little candle at a time, and together, one great flame, reminding us of the glow in our hearts and that our spirits will never go out.
