Guiding Questions: II Kings 18

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. What was the “copper serpent” that Moses made for the Israelites? Under what conditions did he make it?
  2. Notice the special place that Hezekiah had in the eyes of God.
  3. If Hezekiah was so beloved by God, how was it that Sennacherib conquered his kingdom?
  4. How do you feel about the fact that Hezekiah gave the doors of the Temple away to the King of Assyria? Did he have a choice?
  5. What was Ravshakeh trying to convince the people of? What were the points in his argument? What motivated him to make such arguments?
  6. Why did the people rend their garments when they heard Ravshakeh’s words?
