Guiding Questions: Joshua 13

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. How does the beginning of this chapter seem to take issue with verse 23 at the close of chapter 11?
  2. Are the boundaries set forth in Joshua 13:2-6 boundaries which coincide with earlier definitions of the confines of Israel’s conquest?
  3. How does Joshua 13:7 (and those which follow) relate to verse 23 at the end of chapter 11?
  4. In Joshua 13:22, Bilaam is given an adjectival descriptive. Is that the same description which appears in the Five Books?
  5. Where, prior to Joshua 13:33 in this chapter, is there any reference to the “sheyvet Levi” or to “l’viim”?
