Guiding Questions: Genesis 45

This is part of the Tanakh Yomi Project.

  1. How does Joseph’s question in Genesis 45:3 mesh with the previous text – especially Judah’s statement?
  2. To what “ultimate determinant” does Joseph describe events in his life?
  3. Is the revelation and reunion what the text has led the readers to expect?
  4. And, what is the reaction of Pharaoh (note especially Genesis 45:20)?
  5. In Genesis 45:24, what Joseph’s admonition echo?
  6. To Genesis 45:27, Jacob is the name which is set down; in Genesis 45:28 et seq. it is Yisrael – any apparent reason?
